    Frequently Asked Questions

Garnock Valley FM - GVFM, Music that makes you feel good

When are you coming back on-air?
We are currently planning our third broadcast and are also hoping to come back on-air in November/December 2009.

Why do you only broadcast for 28 days at a time?
These are called "RSL" broadcasts. We are only allowed to broadcast for a maximum of 28 days twice a year, (with 4 months between successive broadcasts). Think of our broadcasts are a "test run" for a Community License.

    What is a Community License?
This allows a radio station to run full-time similar to a normal radio station, but it's purpose must be for social gain, rather than profit.

    Can I be a presenter?
GVFM are always on the lookout for volunteers, see this page for more details.

I'd like to be involved, but I don't want to be "on air"?
You don't have to be a presenter to get involved, there are many people working behind the scenes who have no ambitions to broadcast but enjoy meeting guests, talking to listeners, promoting GVFM in the community and helping the station run smoothly.

We're a local group, can you promote us?
Closer to our broadcast date, we'll give you details of how to get promoted on GVFM and we may even ask you in for an interview live on air! All promotion of local voluntary and community groups is free.

We are having a fete or a party, can GVFM help?
The station can provide an outdoor or indoor music, public address system and entertainment for local community group events. Contact us for more information.

GVFM can also provide music and entertainment for private parties, such as 18th or 21st birthday parties or wedding anniversarys, at very competitive rates. The station has a range of experience, so contact us to discuss your event - we'd love to help!
